Post 56: EVALUATION Q.4
Q.4 How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stage?
During A2 (year 13), we have gone through a complex process of constructing and completing our music video. At each stage - during the research, planning and evaluation - we have used a massive range of media technologies from powerpoint and editing suites to a blog and youtube. For my AS coursework it was the first time I had come into contact with a lot of the technologies that you need to make films and media related products. Since the end of AS, I have expanded the amount of technologies even further, as my skills in the subject have developed.
All of the products above, mainly Photoshop and Adobe premier pro were the most useful, but also a challenge to use. We were having to learn how to use them through our own knowledge (which in some areas was proven difficult) because if you didn't know how to use a certain tool or editing technique, you would have to research how to do it yourself. This is where the internet (another media technology) came in useful. The internet was a quick and easy way to gather the research we needed to help plan and produce our final product. For example, searching how to do certain editing on Photoshop or on Adobe Premier Pro. The internet also helped us search for both existing student music videos and existing professional music videos as well as artists album covers, all of which gave us inspiration. This was a great way of widening our groups knowledge in these areas of technology to then be able to use it again in the future.
An example of using a media technology we haven't used before is Photoshop in Ancillary tasks one and two: The Digipack and the Poster. Despite muddling through photoshop, and lightroom, the poster below was created on Photoshop and in my opinion it has make it look more professional than what it would look like on a word document or another creative platform. The is because you are able to layer pictures on-top of pictures on Photoshop, add in titles, correct the colour as well as making sure to blend it all together. All in all, we were really pleased with our outcome.
A short video I made concerning the media technologies we used to make our media products:
Below is a presentation outlining each stage of our process:
All of the media technologies which were used helped us in each stage - research, planning and construction - to create the final products. In conclusion, if we couldn't have used these media technologies we would have found it difficult to produce something the way we did.
