Post 55: EVALUATION Q.3
Q.3 WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM YOUR AUDIENCE FEEDBACK?
Firstly, here is my plan for answering Evaluation Question 3:

Some answers from three different people taken verbally after they have watched the music video and looked at the ancillary tasks, (the poster and the Digi-Pak):

THE QUESTIONNAIRE:
Some answers from three different people taken verbally after they have watched the music video and looked at the ancillary tasks, (the poster and the Digi-Pak):
Then, I asked one woman aged 51+ and two boys aged 17 to answer it. Here were their responses:
- woman (purple pen)
- boys (black pen)
What have I learnt from my audience feedback?
To gain feedback I wanted to specifically talk to people who were part of my target audience, which was younger people, but I also spoke to few people from an older generation to make sure it was inclusive. I did this by showing people my music video on youtube and then printing out my digi-pak and poster and presented them in the interview. I then asked them questions in a discussion or interview; but I also used social media to translate their views on paper.
Positive feedback:
After acting on some of the initial feedback from my rough cut my group and I tweaked the video to act on this advice, which mainly consisted of changing the framing into a square to make it look more like a music video. This worked in our favor as we have been complimented on how people like the smaller frame as it looks like a music video or an instagram video. People have also commented on how they like the originality of our music video but could still easily understand that the product was for a music video destined to promote and advertise the song. They also understood the narrative and storyline clearly which was a massive weight off our shoulders as this was what we have been aiming for. Furthermore, we have also been complimented on how we have used our technical skill to use a variety of shots in all elements. Moreover, our camera work was also mentioned within the feedback - and that we had used it well. Additionally, people have also said that the video was appropriate to the indie genre and enjoyable to watch, which we all appreciated very much as this was probably another important target we set for ourselves when planning our video. We also got complimented on the links between the ancillary tasks and the video as people could tell they were advertising the same thing. They also thought the images we have used are appropriate and helped make the link as they 'set the scene' as one person mentioned. This is positive on our behalf as we have achieved the consistant promotion of the band. I was also very gald to hear that people also regonised the front cover as being the two actors within the music video, this was important as people were noticing and interacting with our music video on a higher level as they noticed minor details as well as the 'cute' and 'enjoyable' storyline that perhaps was clearer. We also received a lot of comments on the music video being 'nostalgic' which was also another aim of ours as we tried to portray the bond between the two sisters. One boy (aged 17) mentioned 'the techniques we have used compliement the style, felt like i was there. Also the hand held camera makes the footage look more nostalgic'. My group and I were very pleased to here this, as we put all of our energy into making sure it was easy to understand the storyline which was the bond between two sisters. Overall, my group and I found the feedback we received was very appreciated and flattering, as we have all worked extremely hard to achieve a successful outcome, and the fact that it has been portrayed that way is extremely rewarding.
Critic:
Although the positive feedback we have received was very pleasant, we have also received constructive criticism to help us improve for future projects. One critic states the digi-pak could have one improvement 'be that rather than a plain yellow background, but a picture of the other character looking back.' Perhaps, if we were to create another digi-pak for our music video we would have thought about this a lot clearer. We could have possibly made two and then shown it to others to see what they prefer. Another critic (Female aged 51) mentioned she thought that the 'music didn't quite reflect the fact that this was a playful and energetic friendship which created a less interesting tone'. Perhaps next time, we could ask our target age range what type of music they would like to hear with the particular theme.
So, what have I learnt?
Overall, my group and I have learnt that our video was overall very successful and that our idea was portrayed in a clear and understanding way. We also believe our video maintained a continuos fun and enjoyable mood which was important and positive for advertising purposes. However, the feedback we have received has been very encouraging as it has not only shown all of our skill in this sector it has also motivated us to continue learning and improving further on our media skills.
