Post 49: Rough Cut
ROUGH CUT
HERE IS OUR MUSIC VIDEO ROUGH CUT FOR THE STROKES - 'I'LL TRY ANYTHING ONCE': HERE.
For our first attempt at shooting a rough cut of a music video, we’re are all very proud of it. We were excited to see how it would turn out, especially when it came to editing and the exact order of the scenes that we had filmed. Looking back at our storyboards we are also thrilled that we have set out to complete our idea, and we have, to a certain extent, done that.
We are currently looking and researching into the importance of the titles, particularly in relevance to our ancillary tasks to add to make our final cut. We are going through the vast amount of titles adobe offer to see what kind of style we want and what best represents our idea.
Three loose current ideas:
Furthermore, we want to experiment a little with the framing of the video to see what fits best as at the moment it fills the screen in our rough cut, but looking at some contemporary official music videos being released recently, the size of the film has varied and often in either a square format so only the centre of the film is shown, or with black bands across the top and bottom, like films do it.
We have tried a few colour corrections and filters in premiere pro in a attempt to render and change the tints in the film. We are yet to decide whether we want them for our final cut or if we think it looks more natural and raw without it.
When watching our rough cut, however, we don't want to change too much, (besides the framing and titles), because we like it how it is and any changes, we think, wouldn't work as well. We have also tried and started our editing process a few times, changing the order or adding variants of the storyline in but after much deliberation, we have landed on the storyline we want.
