Post 38: CHECKPOINT 1: PLANNING
CHECKPOINT ONE: PLANNING
To review and evaluate our work at this point, we have to think how well our coursework is going so far, and which aspects we'd like to improve. However, instead of commenting on our own work which can be difficult to do, I have read and taken two other fellow students work to see what they have done well, what I would like to incorporate into my work and what they could improve (so they get constructive criticism and if they do the same as me, so do i). Below is the mark scheme for our coursework which will help me figure out what is successful and what isn't.
MARK SCHEME:
Level 3 12–15 marks
- Planning and research evidence will be complete.
- There is proficient research into similar products and a potential target audience.
- There is proficient work on shotlists, layouts, drafting, scripting or storyboarding.
- There is proficient organisation of actors, locations, costumes or props.
- Time management is good.
- There is proficient skill in the use of digital technology or ICT in the presentation.
- There are proficient communication skills.
- There is a good level of care in the presentation of the research and planning.
Level 4 16-20 marks
- Planning and research evidence will be complete and detailed.
- There is excellent research into similar products and a potential target audience.
- There is excellent work on shotlists, layouts, drafting, scripting or storyboarding.
- There is excellent organisation of actors, locations, costumes or props.
- Time management is excellent.
- There is excellent skill in the use of digital technology or ICT in the presentation.
- There are excellent communication skills.
- There is an excellent level of care in the presentation of the research and planning.
STUDENT ONE:
This is the work of a fellow student in my class achieving the level 4 standard in the mark scheme (around 16-20 marks). Below, I have screenshot some of their work and annotated with some comments on things I identified as being really well done. The research is thorough, and then applied to their idea of how they've decided to use use sound in their work. They have also included examples of what they will use when editing, such as the foley sound heartbeat. I think that they could use more imaginative ways of displaying their ideas, such as pictures & examples of what they want it to look like in editing. Or perhaps the original plans in mind maps to show the progression of their ideas. Overall, I would give them a level 4 because it displays lots of research evidence, excellent organisation and presentation, and a excellent skill in the use of digital technology or ICT.

STUDENT TWO:
The second student has completed a blog post based on the poster ancillary task, to recreate a the artist, Rihanna's poster cover art. Due to a number of factors, I would give this a level 3 (around 12-15 marks) because it doesn't reach the band 4 level. I think that the planning and research evidence is be complete, but could have been better researched or more written about the process. There is also proficient research into similar products but no written work on the target audience or background work on the design itself. However, there are lots of pictures showing the original, and the process of the make-up, but could have showed the editing process through some screenshots i.e photoshop.
